About

A little about me… Heidi, the one woman show behind Mixtape Vintage.

If you have seen my home or glanced at my wardrobe you will know that Mixtape Vintage is truly an extension of my everyday life. This little shop grew out of my passion for hunting and gathering vintage, and a desire to live more sustainably by reducing, reusing and repairing as much as I could.

A conscious effort to buy/collect vintage is a great way to live more sustainably and I am on a mission to make this a more accessible option for more people by curating a shop full of old treasures ready for new homes!

I am obsessed by the colour and patterns of the 60s & 70s aesthetic and I love infusing these palettes into the shop often. I am also influenced by the music and festival culture of this era and I am drawn to the more casual folk pieces that seamlessly blend into the cottage culture of Haliburton life.

I have learned that a lot of time and energy is needed to run your own business and even more is needed to do so while raising a family! And without a strong support network, it can be down right impossible to put in all the hours.

I strongly believe that my dream of opening this shop would not have been possible without the support and encouragement of my awesome other half, Nick.

My husband and I met on the west coast of Canada, and moved to the beautiful Haliburton Highlands in 2008. We wanted to live closer to our families but also remain close to nature, the waterways and an arts community and the Haliburton Highlands had it all!

In 2011 we were married at my parents’ farm and now we have two little boys (Corbin and Noah) and a Corgi named Oscar. When we are not both working on our businesses (my husband is a builder) you will find us enjoying family time at the cottage, or camping in our 1977, 17’ Boler. We love being able to share our love of travel and the outdoors with our children all year round but the summer and fall are definitely our favourite seasons here in Ontario.

Thank you for taking the time to read a bit about me and my family and for browsing this virtual version of my MIX of vintage. If you are ever in Haliburton, I hope you will pop into our brick and mortar location too!
